This 8-day/ 7-night adventure seamlessly combines the geological wonders of Ikara-Flinders Ranges, the unique underground world of Coober Pedy, and the majestic landscapes of Kings Canyon before reaching the iconic Uluru.

Travel the legendary Oodnadatta track, where desert sculptures and pioneer history dot the landscape. Experience the unique lifestyle of Coober Pedy’s underground living, witness the dramatic cliffs of Kings Canyon at sunrise, and conclude your journey at Australia’s most recognisable natural wonder, Uluru. Here, immerse yourself in Indigenous culture through hands on workshops while witnessing the spectacular changing colours of the rock at both sunrise and sunset.

Operating during the most comfortable months (April to November), this comprehensive tour includes six breakfasts, five lunches, and five dinners. Your journey can end at either Yulara Airport (Uluru) or continue to Alice Springs, offering flexibility for your onward travel arrangements.

Outback Adventure Itinerary

Day 1 :
Day 1

We will begin our journey with a pickup from Franklin Street Bus Station before traveling through the picturesque Clare Valley wine region, where rolling vineyards and charming countryside provide a stunning backdrop. Continuing north, we will stop in the historic town of Hawker to visit the Jeff Morgan Gallery, home to breathtaking panoramic paintings that capture the vast beauty of the outback. From there, we will make our way to the Flinders Ranges, where we will settle in for the night at our first campsite on a working sheep station. As the sun sets over the rugged landscape, we'll roll out our swags and get to know each other around the campfire, sharing stories beneath a sky filled with countless stars.

Day 2 :
Day 2

We’ll start the day with breakfast before setting off towards Blinman, traveling through the stunning Parachilna Gorge with its rugged rock formations and winding dirt roads. From Blinman, we'll continue to Arkaroo Rock, where ancient Aboriginal rock art tells stories of the land’s deep history. After soaking in these cultural and natural wonders, we’ll make our way to Wilpena Pound Resort, the gateway to one of the most iconic landscapes in the Flinders Ranges. Here, we’ll embark on a hike through the breathtaking terrain, immersing ourselves in the beauty of this vast natural amphitheater, Wilpena Pound. Following our hike, we’ll begin our journey back to camp, stopping for a scenic picnic lunch as we pass through Bunyeroo Gorge, with highlights including Razorback Lookout, where the panoramic views of the rugged ranges are truly breathtaking. Our final stop will be at the Rock Wallaby Conservatory, where we may catch a glimpse of these elusive native animals in their natural habitat.

Day 3 :
Day 3

We'll begin the day with breakfast before heading towards Farina, a once-thriving town that used to service the original Ghan train line. Now a ghost town, remnants of its past offers a glimpse into its history. On the way, we'll stop at the vibrant Ochre Pits, a significant site where local Aboriginal people have gathered for thousands of years to collect ochre, a substance integral to their culture and traditions.

After exploring Farina, we’ll continue on to Maree, the starting point of the iconic Oodnadatta Track, a historic route that takes us deep into the heart of the Australian outback. Here, we’ll air down our tyres and hit the track to William Creek, stopping to explore the striking and unusual Mutonia Sculpture Park, home to a collection of sculptures set against the vast, open landscape.

As we journey north, we’ll pause for a scenic lunch along the way, soaking in the surrounding beauty. In the evening, we’ll set up camp and wash the dust down with a cold beer and enjoy a hot meal at the William Creek Hotel before settling in for the night.

Day 4 :
Day 4

We’ll start the day with breakfast before departing William Creek and heading towards Coober Pedy, a fascinating outback town known for its underground dwellings and for being the opal mining capital of the world. Upon arrival, we’ll check in to our unique underground dormitory accommodation. After settling in, we’ll have some free time to explore the main street, where you can browse local shops and take in the quirky atmosphere. You’ll also have the opportunity to stop in for lunch at one of the local eateries. After lunch, we’ll head out for an informative mine tour, where you’ll learn about the town’s rich opal mining history. Following the tour, we’ll head out to the stunning Kanku - Breakaways Conservation Park. As the day winds down, we’ll enjoy a memorable dinner while watching the sun set over the striking, colorful landscape of the Breakaways, before returning to our accommodation for the night, where we’ll relax and settle in for a restful sleep in our unique underground dugout…..a true bucket list experience in Coober Pedy.

Day 5 :
Day 5

We’ll hit the road early for a long drive from Coober Pedy into the Northern Territory, heading towards Kings Creek Station, a working cattle station in the heart of the outback. Along the way, we’ll stop for a break and lunch at either Kulgera or Erldunda. Upon arrival at Kings Creek Station, we’ll check in and set up camp before taking some time to relax. In the evening, you can try one of the famous camel burgers at the Kings Creek Station Café, or choose from a variety of other delicious menu options if camel isn't to your taste.

Day 6 :
Day 6

We’ll start early with the Kings Canyon rim hike, where we’ll witness the ancient canyon walls illuminate as the sun rises over the horizon, casting its glow over the prehistoric landscape of the canyon floor. After breakfast and packing up camp, we’ll continue our journey to Yalara, the small resort township just outside of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Once we arrive at the campground, we’ll settle in, take in our first Uluru sunset, and enjoy a tasty dinner at our campsite to end the day.

Day 7 :
Day 7

After a quick breakfast, we’ll head to Kata Tjuta for a sunrise experience, followed by the Valley of the Winds hike. After immersing ourselves in the beauty of this ancient landscape, we’ll make our way to Uluru for a partial base hike, taking in the monolith up close. We’ll stop for a scenic lunch before returning to Yalara, where we’ll enjoy a cultural experience with the traditional owners, the Anangu people. Afterward, we’ll head back out to Uluru for a stunning sunset viewing, watching as the rock changes color with the setting sun. Finally, we’ll return to camp, where we’ll enjoy dinner to end another day of adventure.

Day 8 :
Day 8

Sadly, today is our last day together, but what a way to finish our adventure with an Uluru sunrise!! We’ll witness the awe-inspiring sight of the monolith as it changes color with the first light of day. Next, we’ll complete the remainder of the Uluru base hike and visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park Visitor Centre to learn more about the cultural and geological significance of the area. After the visit, we’ll make our way to Yalara Airport to farewell our new friends who will be flying out from Uluru. The rest of us will then head to Alice Springs.  We’ll stop at either Erldunda or Curtin Springs so you can stretch your legs and grab some lunch.
