The Track and Back

Experience the Extraordinary. Journey into the true heart of the outback with our most immersive 8-day/ 7-night adventure. Building on our Ikara-Flinders Ranges experiences, this expedition pushes deeper into Australia’s remote interior, where iconic outback landmarks await your discovery.

Take to the skies above Marree for a spectacular aerial view of outback wonders including Lake Eyre, the legendary Dingo Fence, and the mysterious Marree Man. Your journey then follows the historic Oodnadatta Track, a 405-kilometer outback odyssey from Marree to Oodnadatta. Along this legendary dirt road, you’ll discover hidden springs, pristine waterholes, haunting railway ruins, and an unexpected desert sculpture park that seems to rise from the red earth itself.

The adventure culminates in Coober Pedy, the world’s opal mining capital and our guide Redmond’s hometown. Here, locals escape the scorching summer heat in underground homes known as ‘dugouts.’ Experience this unique lifestyle firsthand as you rest in an underground hotel room, then delve deeper into the town’s rich history with a private tour of a working opal mine. Through Redmond’s personal stories and local connections, you’ll gain intimate insights into this fascinating underground world where temperatures remain constant and opals wait to be discovered.
